How to Unlock Sailing in Lost Ark?
Sailing will automatically be unlocked as you progress through Lost Ark’s main storyline. You’ll be given the aptly named Set Sail quest — which will teach you the basics and give you your first boat.
To start this quest, you must travel to the Wavestrand Port at East Luttera. After finishing Blackfang’s storyline as a reward, you will receive your first ship.
For reference, unlocking the Sailing feature in Lost Ark requires players to Reach Level 35.

How to Upgrade Ships in Lost Ark?
Here’s how to upgrade your ship in Lost Ark:
1. Reach level 420 on a character.
This will reward you with a Ship Material Chest full of resources used to upgrade your ships.
2. Make sure you have all the required materials, which can be salvaged by exploring the world or bought from merchants with Pirate Coins.
You’ll likely buy most of your blueprints and materials with Pirate Coins, which you can farm by sending your ships out on voyages from your Stronghold.
3. Open the ship menu, and select any ship in your fleet that you want to upgrade. From there, click the Upgrade button at the top-right corner of the screen.
You can also improve your ship’s performance by hiring and equipping Sailors. While docked at a port, navigate to the Sailors menu at the bottom of the screen. This is where you’ll find any available Sailors.
